My Crown

I made a crown out of the mist
missed the colours of the sunshine
never thought my reign was a sneeze
gone even before it began.
I was busy tormenting the trees
running my cloak through and above
but not a word they hushed back
and it’s that silence
that’s haunting me even now.

Who is mocking who ?
Certainly not the leaves
the earth is the same dust
beneath my feet that I stood on.
The skies are just a topless void
that has failed to outmatch my heart
where are the flowers I once adorned
the garlands that I touched with awe ?
